David and Karen's latest...via the west!

David and Karen are unable to upload their blog at present due to the 'Great Firewall of China' :-( But have arrived safely in Beijing and have collected their Itala from the Warehouse and are eagerly waiting to get started from the Great Wall tomorrow morning and will update once out of China or words to that effect :-)
Day one

Completed day one without any problems so we are very happy and are now heading to Erenhot for our final night in china :-)
We have just clocked out of our lunch stop in sizzewangi (not sure of spelling) am actually writing this as David is blasting through the countryside and route book is safely behind me!
We also note that the Chinese style of driving is still weaving in and out of the lanes. It isn't necessary to pull back into the right after overtaking so the Itala seems to have adopted this style of driving quite effectively!

A few hairy moments yesterday and again this morning coming through the towns but we seem to have a perfect 125km of black stuff this afternoon - sadly donkeys have not been made redundant yet but things are definitely improving here for the Chinese.
